Current Outreach Opportunities!

We are collecting coins (change) on Sundays to allow our World Vision sponsor children and their communities to have   special celebrations such as birthdays.
During Advent we will be stuffing cosmetic bags for the homeless.
We thank you for supporting any or all opportunities for Outreach!

The next Lunch Bunch will be December 10, 11:30 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church.  Please come and join us for a time of fun and fellowship and help us celebrate the Christmas season with a Carol Sing-a-long under the direction of Tim.
We will also be having a small gift exchange. If you are interested in participating, please bring a wrapped, unmarked gift for around 5 dollars. Further details will be available at the lunch. There is a sign up sheet in the front foyer.

Sunday December 20th 10:30 a.m.: Carol Service and ‘Bring a Friend’. The Scripture readings tell the story of Christmas, starting with the Old Testament prophecies; in between these readings we sing carols – plenty of them! – so, if you like the carols of Christmas, this is the service for you. Some of the carols will be sung by everyone, some will be special performances by members of our congregation.
Many familiar Christmas carols are enjoyable to people who are not churchgoers, and a service which does not include communion can be easier for them to participate in. This is a ‘bring-a-friend’ service, so please invite friends or family members who do not normally go to church; the service will be structured with them in mind.

Inner City Pastoral Ministry Lunch: St. Margaret’s in partnership with St. Mary’s Anglican Church will be providing and serving lunch at the Bissell Center on Sunday January 10th, 2016. We normally serve about 300 people. As in the past, a sign up sheet will be at the back of the church for those wishing to help out. We require:
Desserts – finger desserts such as squares or cookies.
Prepared raw vegetables – carrots, celery, cucumbers, cauliflower, peppers or cherry tomatoes. (please do not include dips.)
Fruit – bananas, apples, oranges, melon or grapes
Please indicate the amount of food you will be providing. If you prefer to make a donation please enclose it in your Sunday offering and mark it ICPM. The last few years our expenses have exceeded our donations. We will purchase all the sandwich ingredients as well as pickles, coffee, sugar, juice crystals, paper products, ect.
On Sat. January 9th, 2016 we will be making the sandwiches in the Church basement (1:00 pm) and will required 10 people. On Sunday January 10th, 2016 we require 10 additional people at the Bissell Center to prepare, serve lunch and clean up (9:00 am – 1:30 pm). The Bissell Center is located at 10530 96th Street (west side of the street). There is rear parking at the back. If you have extra plastic bags please leave them in the church kitchen as they are required to pack extra sandwiches in for the homeless.

Habitat For Humanity: December 1 - 19 Habitat For Humanity will be building more houses in December! Volunteers are always welcome, and there are many flexible, casual shifts available. Sign up at HFH.org/ or call 780-479-3416 extension 232. Volunteers can work indoors at the Prefab shop (14135 128 Ave NW), or outdoors in Neufeld Landing. Unsure about using tools? HFH offers a Basic Tool Training Workshop; the final one for 2015 is on Friday, November 27th.
To get into the holiday spirit, Habitat For Humanity will also be running hayrides from their Prefab shop on Tuesday, December 8th, 4:30-6:30.

Youth Blog:- We are in need of HELP from the congregation! The youth discipleship blog is up and running (http://stmargaretsyouth.blogspot.ca). We are looking for volunteers to write short practical pieces for the blog, aimed at the youth, about their own journey as disciples. Please e-mail Tim, stmrector@gmail.com and he will post them on the blog.
