October 26th - November 1st, 2015

This coming Sunday we are very pleased to welcome the Rev. Scott Sharman as our guest speaker. Scott is the Anglican chaplain at the University of Alberta. Many of you will know that we make an annual gift to the U of A chaplaincy using some of the income from our cell phone tower; we have been doing this for some years and our parish is in fact the largest single contributor to the chaplaincy budget. We are looking forward to hearing an update from Scott about the ministry of the chaplaincy among students and faculty members. He will speak at both services and will be available to talk and answer questions afterwards, especially at the coffee hour after the 10.30 service.

After the 10:30 service on Sunday October 25th, help is needed with the following tasks at the Church:
·        Move the timber parking stops off of the asphalt parking lot for the winter season to accommodate snow removal;
·        Move the desk, tables, chairs, lamps etc. out of Tim’s office in preparation for carpet installation the next day;
·        Remove baseboard in Tim’s office and give a second coat of paint to repaired wall areas (will be done by Lorne);
·        Load trailer with old firewood, garden and flower bed garbage, shrub trimmings and dead trees to be taken to landfill.
Any and all help will be appreciated!
Thanks!
 Lorne Rice

Feel free to attend all of them, or any that interest you. Here is the schedule for November:
·      Nov. 3rd: Pot Luck Supper 6.00 – 8.00 p.m. Just what the label says: come, share a meal and enjoy the company of your fellow Christians.
·      Nov. 10th: ‘War and Peace’ 7.30 – 9.00 p.m. Jesus calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who hate us; how do we put that into practice in the dangerous world we live in? Come, share your ideas and listen to others.
·      Nov. 17th: ‘Free For All’ 7.30 – 9.00 p.m. Continuing from last month, with room for new questions too!
·      November 24th: ‘Prayer Clinic for Beginners and Those Who Are Still Beginning’ 7.30 – 9.00 p.m. Bring your questions about the practice of prayer.

Looking Ahead
Sunday November 1st: Remembrance of Those Who Have Died. On this Sunday we will have an opportunity to place a carnation on the altar in memory of a loved one or friend, and also to have their names mentioned in prayer and thanksgiving for their lives.
Sunday November 8th: Note that our Invitation Sunday for this day has been cancelled; services will continue as usual (and feel free to invite someone if you want to!).
Sunday November 15th: Baptisms at the 10.30 service. If you would like to be baptized or have a child baptized, please talk to Tim immediately (stmrector@gmail.com or 780-437-7231) so that preparation can be arranged.
Sunday November 29th 7:00 p.m. St. Margaret’s Christmas Variety Concert in support of World Vision’s ‘Raw Hope’ project.

Current Outreach Opportunities!

We are collecting coins (change) on Sundays to allow our World Vision sponsor children and their communities to have   special celebrations such as birthdays.
From now until Advent, we will be collecting socks, deodorant, juice boxes and healthy granola bars (no chocolate please) for the Youth at the Youth Emergency Shelter.
During Advent we will be stuffing cosmetic bags for the homeless.
We thank you for supporting any or all opportunities for Outreach!
