Reach Campaign Update
As everyone will know the Diocese of Edmonton is conducting a $5 million fundraising campaign, to which all members are invited to make five-year pledges. The goal that has been assigned to us is $170,000, of which 50% (net expenses) would be returned to us.
Thanks to all who attended our Case Statement Meeting on August 27th. The meeting decided that Reach Campaign funds returned to our parish would be allocated 60% to children's and youth work (probably to hire a part time staff person, and provide expenses for them), and 40% to our building plans (note that we are currently working on a much reduced building plan which would see us complete essential tasks; more about this later in the Fall).
The following have volunteered to be part of the Reach team in our parish:
v Tim Chesterton (Rector) (Visiting Team)
v Marci Chesterton (Campaign Chair) (Visiting Team)
v Doug Sanderson (Campaign Secretary) (Visiting Team)
v Sally Floden (Visiting Team)
v Brian Popp (Visiting Team)
v Rick Mogg (Visiting Team)
‘The Red Letters: The Words of Jesus for Today’s World’ (A Six-Week Video Discussion Course with Tony Campolo and Colin McCartney: Starts Thursday September 25th 7.30 – 9.00 p.m. at the church.
Do we value the words of Jesus? Do we live his words? Through a series of six video conversations, Tony Campolo and Colin McCartney discuss the radical but clear teachings of Jesus. Together, they confront complacency and assert that the issues Jesus spoke directly about should be the priorities of God’s people. We will use their conversations as a starting point for our own discussions.
