Advent Sermon Themes

The main theme of Advent is our future hope. What has God promised us about the future, and what can we do to prepare for it?

This future is not just about us as individuals ('going to heaven when we die'). It's also about the future of the whole human race, and indeed of the whole planet earth. Has God given up on this planet and its inhabitants? Has he just given us a lifeboat to escape from it before it goes to hell in a hand basket? Or is there a wonderful future ahead for God's whole creation?

During the first three Sundays of Advent Tim will be preaching about three phrases from the Nicene Creed that touch on our Christian hope:

Sunday Dec. 1st (Advent 1): Judgement: 'He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead'

Sunday Dec. 8th (Advent 2): Kingdom: 'And his kingdom will have no end'

Sunday Dec. 15th (Advent 3): Resurrection: 'We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come'.

'Hopefully' you can come and join us as we think about these very important themes!
